Cougars Come Up Short Against ACC

(2/6/10) Clearwater, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team lost a tight game to Atlanta Christian College on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 64-55. ACC came into the game ranked #5 in the nation, but the Cougars came in focused on pulling off the upset.

Atlanta got out to a quick lead, forcing several turnovers with their press and scoring several easy baskets. Each time the Chargers looked like they were going to pull away, the Cougars would answer with a run of their own. Katie Mullens made several big plays for the Cougars in the first half, and CCC went into the half down only 3 at 31-34.

The second half remained close throughout as the Cougars looked to fight back and take the lead, but the Chargers pulled away late in the game to win 64-55.

Katie Mullens again led the Cougars with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. Amanda Ison added 15 points and 9 rebounds, and Lauren Leabhart had 12 points and 7 rebounds.

The Lady Cougars will play region rival Southeastern University in a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday night.
