Cougars Play Well Early but Lose to SPC


(2/3/10) St. Petersburg, FL- The Clearwater Christian College women's basketball team played well early but eventually fell to St. Pete College by a final score of 79-51. CCC was up by early in the game 20-17 before SPC went on an 11-0 run to grab the lead at 28-17. The Cougars rallied late in the half, closing with an 8-0 run to close the deficit to 38-34 at the half.

Early in the second half, standout freshman Richelle Bucklin went down with a sprained ankle which hurt the Cougars and allowed SPC to extend their lead to double digits. Late in the 2nd half, the Cougars struggled on the offensive end and SPC got hot from the 3 point line to extend their lead and eventually finish with a 79-51 win.

Clearwater was led in scoring by Katie Mullens with 18 followed by Richelle Bucklin with 12. The Cougars next game will be Friday at home against Toccoa Falls College in a key region matchup at 5 p.m.
