CCC Welcomes New Coaches
from Lakeland, Florida has joined our staff as the head coach of our men’s basketball team. Wilsman is no stranger to the coaching ranks having over 20 years of experience in Christian higher education. Craig brings a breadth of championship experience with him to Clearwater and has also coached collegiate players who have received All-Star, All-Conference, All-Region, All-American and All-Canadian Awards.
Prior to coming to CCC, Wilsman was the Athletic Director and the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at The King’s University in Edmonton, Alberta, and helped guide his team to their best record in eight years. In addition, Wilsman coached for five years at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, where he was the school’s second coach in their short ACAC school history. He also served as the Athletic Director and the SPORT Director (sports management program that he helped facilitate its start). Most recently at Warner University in Lakeland, Florida, Coach Wilsman guided the Lady Royals to a second and fourth place finish in the highly competitive NAIA Sun Conference.
Coach Wilsman’s relationship with the NCCAA began during his first coaching stint at Simpson University in Redding, California, where he served four years. During his last season at Simpson his team qualified for the NCCAA D II National Tournament in Oklahoma City and finished second in the nation losing to Atlanta Christian (now Point University) in the national championship game.
Athletic Director Vickie Denny says this about Coach Wilsman: “Craig brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our basketball program and I am thrilled that we can have someone of this caliber to lead our men’s team. He has a heart for mentoring young men through the sport of basketball and will bring a new dimension to our men’s program. He has been very successful at the NCCAA national level and we look forward to how God will use him as our new men’s basketball coach.”
Wilsman earned a Master of Science, Recreation and Parks Administration from Western Illinois University and, in addition to his coaching responsibilities, he will also be developing the sport management program within the Exercise and Sport Science Department. Craig is married to Susan, who is also an accomplished athlete and softball coach, and they have four children.
has been named head coach for the women’s basketball team. Coach “Nat” is no stranger to the Clearwater area having attended Skycrest Christian School and Clearwater High School (1997-2001). At Clearwater High, Natalie was a four year varsity player and was named most improved player of the team in 2001. After high school graduation, she accepted a basketball scholarship to Southern Wesleyan University where she majored in elementary education. She played four years of basketball as the starting point guard for SWU and won defensive player of the year award her senior year. After college basketball, she remained at SWU for a final year and served as an assistant coach under Chris Williams. It was during this time that Natalie had her first experience in sport ministry by travelling with the SWU basketball team to the Czech Republic.
Before stepping into the head coaching world, Coach “Nat” continued her playing career with Athletes in Action, traveling to Africa and India playing basketball as a platform to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since returning to the States, she has coached in South Carolina at Oconee Christian Academy for four years, Seneca High School for a year and Walhalla High School for the past two years. She was named Coach of the Year in 2008 and has a current coaching record of 96-58.
Athletic Director Vickie Denny is excited to add Natalie to the CCC coaching staff. Dr. Denny remarks, “I have a passion to see quality coaches, and Natalie Wilkinson is bringing a great dimension to our women’s team here at Clearwater. She is an intense, knowledgeable coach who knows how to get the most out of her players. She runs an efficient and effective program, and it is obvious she loves the Lord and wants to serve Him through the sport of basketball. This is a winning combination for our Lady Cougars Basketball Team.
returns to Clearwater Christian College to lead the Cougars’ baseball team and also to coordinate the sports ministry program. Coach Rossiter, a 1994 graduate of the college, was an outstanding student athlete on the Cougar baseball team. Upon graduation, Bob married Christine Simmons (also class of 1994) and they began ministering together at Bible Baptist Church and School in Hampton, GA. The Rossiters just completed their 20th year of ministry at BBC. Bob has coached basketball, volleyball, and baseball, also serving as teacher, athletic director and youth pastor over his time at the church and school. He has literally impacted hundreds of young people for the gospel using sports as the avenue. He served as Assistant to the Athletic Commissioner for the Georgia Christian Athletic Association and in 2008 began an athletic outreach ministry called Sports4Christ which plans summer sports mission trips for youth.
Athletic Director Vickie Denny is pleased to add a veteran coach to the CCC coaching staff. She states, “I have known Bob since he was a student and have watched him grow both professionally and spiritually. I have seen him in action and he brings a solid biblical worldview of coaching and will be a tremendous asset to our athletic program in general, and our baseball team specifically. He is a godly man with a great knowledge of the sport but who also sees the importance of developing young men for the sake of the gospel. Coach Rossiter is going to be a great addition to our men’s baseball program and the college.”
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Rossiter will be leading the sports ministry program at CCC, adding outreach opportunities, academic classes and internships. He is completing his master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irving, CA. He and Christine have 10 children and look forward to returning to Clearwater to be a part of the CCC family.
