Toccoa Falls Sweeps Series in Georgia

Clearwater looked to salvage the series in Georgia with at least one win but couldn't overcome Toccoa Falls offense, but fell 9-4 in the game three of the weekend.

TFC jumped out to a 7-0 lead after five innings before the Cougars got on the board. In the top of the sixth, Clearwater cut the deficit to three runs. Sophomore Emmanuel Chmielewski hit a triple with the bases loaded, clearing the bases, and making it 7-3. Freshman Nick Abbruzzese followed the triple with an RBI single of his own, scoring Chmielewski, making it 7-4. The Cougars stranded two runners in the inning and didn't get any offensive support in the seventh, falling to the Eagles in game three.

Senior Kyle Leja (2-6) took the loss throwing four innings, allowing five earned runs, giving up seven hits, issuing three free passes, and striking out three.

Senior Jefte Velez finished 3-4 in game three, scoring one run. Abbruzzese finished 1-3 with an RBI.

Clearwater is now 13-22 after losing their third straight and Toccoa Falls improves to 23-10.

The maroon and black will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30pm at Warner University. The Cougars dropped a 5-4 contest with the Royals back on February 11 earlier this season.

NOTES: Abbruzzese finished 4-9 with three RBI's on the weekend...sophomore Brandon Gonzalez made an appearance in each game of the series on the mound.
