Cougars' Season Ends

In the regional tournament, it's win or go home. For the Lady Cougars, their opponent would be the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College. The teams split during the regular season and had identical regional records (3-3). Trinity Baptist was awarded the #2 seed as a result of the tie-breaking system. In their previous meeting, the Lady Cougars were able to grab an exciting 62-60 road victory.

After the teams traded baskets for the first 5:26, it was all Trinity Baptist in the first half. The Eagles would go on an 8-0 run to open a 14-6 lead and would not trail for the rest of the game. Every time the Cougars would cut into the lead in the first half, the Eagles would hit timely shots to stretch the lead again. As a result, the Eagles went into the locker room up 21-32.

In the second half, the Eagles would stretch the lead to 16 with 15:10 to go. However, the Cougars would begin to chip away. After a timeout with 14:27 remaining, the Cougars would switch to a full court press. The defensive pressure was effective and allowed the Cougars back into the game. So, with 2:53 remaining, the Cougars had cut the deficit to just 2 points. However, the Cougars were unable to get the key stop down the stretch and could not tie or take the lead. At the final buzzer, the Cougars' season came to an end with a 55-59 defeat.

For the Cougars, Kenya Joseph scored 16 points and pulled down 15 rebounds. Hallie Linville added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Tori Hale had 17 rebounds, but had her lowest point put out of the season at 5 points.
