Cougars Fall on Senior Night

In the final game of the regular season, the Cougars honored Tori Hale. Not only was it senior night, but a win would have secured a tie for first place in the South Region and seeding to be determined by tie breakers.

The first half went back and forth. Liz Jenkins opened the scoring for the Cougars off of a Pensacola turnover. The teams would go back and forth until the Cougars would stretch out a 7-point lead with 10:17 to go in the first half. But the Eagles would come back to take the lead 27-29 with 4:31 remaining in the half and go into the locker room leading the Cougars 31-36.

In the second half, the Eagles would come out of the locker room on a 17-2 run to take a 20-point lead over the Cougars with 12:06 remaining. Yet, the Cougars continued to fight as they cut the deficit to 9 with 5:35 remaining. Nevertheless, the Eaglesí depth would prove to be too much for the Cougars to overcome. The final score was 56-66 in favor of Pensacola.

On the night, Tori Hale led the Cougars with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Hallie Linville added 18 points and 6 rebounds of her own.

With the loss, the Cougars fall into a tie with Trinity Baptist College for second in the region and will be seeded #3 in the region tournament after the tie-breakers.
