Falcons Beat Cougars

The Lady Cougars traveled to Temple Terrace to take on the Falcons of Florida College. In their first meeting this season, the Lady Cougars took the thrilling victory in overtime 90-83. In this second meeting, the Cougars would be without the services of Ashleigh Diaz who suffered a torn ACL in the Cougars’ previous game against Trinity Baptist College.

From the opening tip, it was clear that the Falcons were determined to prevent the Cougars from completing the season sweep. For the first half, the Falcons shot 46% from the field while 6 different players were able to score. The Cougars, though, were unable to match the Falcons’ offensive output – shooting just 28% from the field. At the half, the Falcons held a 14-point lead 25-39.

In the second half, the teams played much more evenly. Both teams shot 34% from the field. The Cougars were able to make a late run to close the gap to 8 points, but weren’t able to get any closer as they fell 70-58.

The Cougars were led by Tori Hale’s 15 points. Hallie Linville added 13 points of her own.
