Clearwater Women Defeat Toccoa Falls

In an important South Region match-up, the Lady Cougars faced off against Toccoa Falls College. In their previous meeting, the Lady Cougars came away with a 60-54 victory on the road.

In the early part of the first half, the teams would exchange baskets. However, with 12:51 remaining in the game, a three-point bucket by Ashleigh Diaz would give the Cougars a 13-11, and they never looked back. By the end of the first half, the score was 42-32 in favor of the Cougars. In the first half, the Lady Cougars forced 11 Toccoa Falls turnovers and scored 13 points off of those turnovers while shooting 41% from the field.

In the second half, the Lady Cougars scored the first four points off of 2 Eagles turnovers and never looked back. The Lady Cougars would stretch the lead to as much as 23 as they cruised to a final score of 81-66.

It truly was a dominating performance as the Lady Cougars led in every statistical category for the game except for a dead even 3-point shooting percentage.

Everyone who played was able to get into the score column, and four players scored in double figures for the Cougars. Tori Hale and Hallie Linville led all scorers with 20 points each. Hanna Glaze scored 15 while shooting 7-7 from the field and 1-1 from the free-throw line. Liz Jenkins added 10 on 2-3 shooting from behind the arc.

Next, the Lady Cougars travel to Jacksonville, FL for another regional match-up against Trinity Baptist College tomorrow. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
