Cougars Lose to Gyrenes

It's always good to be home, and the Lady Cougars played like it for the first 20 minutes against the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University.

In the first half, the Lady Cougars used great passing and transition baskets to hang with the Gyrenes, shooting 16-25 (64.0%) from the field on 9 assists. Nevertheless a last second jumper gave the Gyrenes a 36-38 lead going into the half.

In the second half, the Gyrenes showed why they sit in second place in the Sun Conference as they used an early 15-0 run to stretch their lead to 54-38. From there, the Gyrenes wouldn't look back. While the Lady Cougars would continue to have some good possessions, they didn't have enough fire power to keep up with the Gyrenes as they fell 65-88.

The Cougars had three players in double figures. Hallie Linville led all scorers with 18, Liz Jenkins added 10 points to go along with 5 assists, and Hanna Glaze scored 10.

The Lady Cougars return to the court on Friday as they take on Toccoa Falls College in a regional match-up. The home game is scheduled to tip off at 5:00 PM.
