Cougars Fall to Eagles

After a long drive to Pensacola, the Lady Cougars were ready to face off against the NCCAA II #10 ranked Eagles of PCC. The Cougars were coming off of a 60-54 road win over Toccoa Falls College. The Eagles were coming off of a 51-57 loss to Trinity Baptist.

For the first 11 minutes, the game was tight as the Cougars trailed 14-15 with 9:09 remaining in the half. However, the Cougars would go ice cold from there as they would be outscored 6-21 over the remainder of the half to go into the locker room down 36-20. For the half, the Cougars shot only 8-34 from the field. Defensively, the Cougars performed well, holding the Eagles to 11-40 shooting.

In the second half, the Cougars were able to play the Eagles even, but the shooting did not improve, and the Lady Cougars fell with a final score of 51-68.

"We have a young team - essentially 9 freshmen," Coach Wilson said after the game. "So, we will tend to play with inconsistency."

"I thought that we played well defensively and rebounded OK, but we just really struggled to score tonight. A lot of credit goes to PCC, but we just missed a lot of open looks."

On the night, the Cougars shot 23.4% from the field. Hallie Linville led the Cougars with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Hanna Glaze pulled down 11 boards to go along with her 8 points.

The loss puts the Cougars at 1-2 in the South Region with 3 region games remaining and 4-11 on the year.

The Lady Cougars return home on Tuesday to face the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University. Tip-off is at 5:00.
