The Cougars fall short in bid for 3 in a row

Clearwater Christian took the court on Saturday for their third game in three days. The previous two games both resulted in 1 point wins for the Cougars. Clearwater held a small lead very early in the game, but could not hold onto the advantage. TFC shot the ball well early and the Cougars faced a 17 point deficit at the midway point of the first half. Clearwater cut into the lead going into the half down 11. In the second half the Cougars made advances into the scoring gap, but could not maintain a run. Clearwater was able to put 49 points on the board in the second half, but it was not enough. The final score of 78-87 sent the Cougars home with a 2-1 record on their trip North, and a 3-2 South Region mark.
Mike Key topped all scorers with 30 points and he was one rebound shy of back to back, double-doubles. Erik McRae had 15, Eddie Moralobo scored 13 and Colin DeHate rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points. Keys 9 boards were top for the Cougars and he also led the way with 5 assists.
