Cougars win by 1 for the second straight night!

The crowd of 3000+ was treated to some great basketball Friday night as the Cougars and the Bruins met for the second time this seaason. The very early going saw the Bruins take an 8 point lead, but a 7-0 run by the Cougars brought the game back to even at the midpoint of the first half. From that point on the game stayed close with 11 ties and 17 lead changes. Clearwater was down 30-32 at the half after some key free throws by Caleb Winfrey and Caleb Thompson cut into the Bruins lead.
In the second half neither team could pull away. The Cougars had their largest lead of 4 at the 4 minute mark. Each time the Bruins closed the gap the Cougars answered using great team play to score when they needed. A missed free throw by the Bruins gave the Cougars a one point lead with 3 seconds to go, but when the Cougars missed a free throw of their own one last defensive stop was required. With 2.2 on the clock Clearwater forced the Bruins into a desperation shot at the buzzer that missed the mark. Clearwater will finish their 3 game road trip at Toccoa Falls College on Saturday.
The win was a result of balanced scoring led by Mike Key with 20, Erik McRae's 12, Caleb Thompson came off the bench to contribute 11, and Eddie Moralobo and Devin Paularinne added 10. Mike Key was tops on the board with 10 and Erik McRae had 7 assists. Colin DeHate had a season high 3 blocks
