Clearwater tops Bob Jones in first ever meeting

In the first ever Men's basketball meeting between Clearwater Christian and Bob Jones, the Cougars come out on top. The game was 7 ties and 7 lead changes, and the back and forth match was not decided until the last 20 seconds of the game. The first half the Cougars had a balanced scoring attack behind Mike Key's 11 and Erik McRae's 10, but BJU stayed in the game behind Larry Taylor's 23 first half points. The second half began with the Cougars jumping out to a 8 point lead and then increasing that to as many as 12, but the Bruins continued to stay in the game. Timely baskets by Devin Paularinne and Colin DeHate and clutch free throws by Erik McRae sealed the win.
The Cougars were led by Mike Key's 32, and Erik McRae's 24. McRae was 18-22 from the line. Tristan Shore posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, he also had 4 blocked shots.
Colin DeHate Colin Dehate had a double-double of his own with 13 points and 11 boards, while blocking 3 shots. Devin Paularinne rounded out the double figure scorers with 10. Mike Key was tops with 5 assists.
