Cougars take decisive win over Cairn University to open the 2013 National Tournament.

It was a beautiful afternoon at Austin Tindall field in Kissimmee, FL where the Cougars took a step forward to try and defend its 2012 National Title. Cairn University was coming off a solid win over the #2 ranked team in NCCAA II at their East Regional tournament and was expected to be a tough opponent for Cougars. The Cougars took control of the game as Katie Reid started the scoring with a goal in the 4th minute off a cross from Rebecca Farrell; Tori Hale would follow up with goals in the 8th and 12th minutes of the game to complete the scoring. With the pressure off, the Cougars relaxed and played a solid 90 minutes dominating possessions and shots. Cairn did play hard the entire game and made it a competitive 2nd half. The Cairn coach said after the game, “We did not play well today, and certainly not well enough to win. We well play much better in the next match!” The 3-0 win is a good way to advance to the 2nd day of the Tournament.
