Cougars Comeback Secures Win

In the second match of the day at the NCCAA National Tournament, the Cougars faced off against Maranatha Baptist Bible College in a rematch of last year’s NCCAA National Championship game. During set one, the Clearwater Christian College team could not get an offensive attack going and fell 15-25. However set two featured an even match, as the teams found themselves bound at 16-16. The back and forth play would continue all the way to 23-23, where Clearwater paused the action with a timeout. The Cougars responded well after the break, surging ahead to win set two by the score of 26-24. During set three the Clearwater Christian College team put together an impressive offensive and defensive effort and won 25-17 going up 2-1. During set four, the Cougars gained a solid lead before the Crusaders came back and went ahead 22-21. In an exciting finish, the Cougars were able to win another 26-24 set to secure the victory. Dana Medich again led all hitters with an impressive 24 kills while Emily Mayer added another 17 kills. Cassie Foster recorded an amazing 55 sets while Christen Johnson and Kim Ponce had 23 and 20 digs each
