Clearwater Wraps up Regular Season with a South Region Win!!

(10/18/13) Ė In their final South Region regular season game of the year, Clearwater clinched the top seed in the region tournament with a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Toccoa Falls. In the first matchup of the season, CCC stormed out to a 2-0 lead in Georgia. The roles were reversed this time around as the Eagles took a two goal lead in the first eight minutes of the game. The Cougars got one back in the 17th minute, as a ball from John Woodhall freed Brandon Shefcyk on the right side. Shefcyk coolly struck the ball into the far side netting to bring the score to 2-1.
After making some attack-minded adjustments at halftime, Clearwater got the immediate response they were looking for. In the first minute of the second half, the Cougars drew level as Dean-Paul Wallace netted his second goal of the season off of a cross from Chad Broussard. CCC rode that momentum for the early part of the half, but didnít get the go-ahead goal until twenty minutes later as a laser cross from Brad Cole was chested down in the box by John Moore, who blasted home what proved to be the game-winner. Clearwater just missed out on sealing the game with a rebound hit from Ben Holmes, who struck the ball brilliantly but it bent just wide of the far post. With the win, the Cougars finish undefeated in South Region play for the second consecutive season.
