Cougars Lose First Match of the Season

The Royals of Warner University were just too big and strong for the Cougars to handle although Clearwater put up a good fight. During set one the CCC team controlled the explosive offensive of Warner by tough serving and defense. In fact the Cougars had the lead 24-21 but could not capitalize and lost set one 27-25. After dropping the second set, 15-25 Coach Denny changed up the lineup and the Cougars put together another competitive set before the 20-25 final score.
For the match, Dana Medich again scored a double/double with 13 kills and 12 digs; senior Kim Ponce added on the defensive end with 15 digs and junior setter Cassie Foster added 30 assists.
With the loss, the Cougars will place second in the Labor Day Tournament with Warner capturing the championship.
