Lady Cougars Fall to Fire

With a road trip looming, the Lady Cougars were looking for a better performance to catapult them into three big games. Coach Wilson said, "We really needed to play well against Southeastern. Even with the win last Thursday, we felt that we just had not played good basketball."

Early on, it did not look like the Lady Cougars would respond as the Fire jumped out to a 13-0 lead early. However, Tiffany Pack would score the Cougars' first 11 points in a team 13-3 outburst that brought the Cougars to within three. But the Fire would not let the Cougars stay in the game as they went on a 21-3 run to close out the half with a 37-16 lead.

The Lady Cougars would open the second half with a 10-5 advantage to cut the lead to 42-26, but the Fire would outscore Clearwater 18-5 over the next nine minutes to squash any hopes of the Cougars getting back into the game. The final score saw the Cougars fall 44-71.

In his comments, Coach Wilson says, "I know that the score doesn't reflect it, but we played much better today than we did in either of our games last week. Southeastern has greatly improved since our first game against them, and I really thought that the team played with the confidence and character that we need in order to improve to what we want to be."

For Clearwater, Tiffany Pack led the team with 14 points. Tori Hale added 12 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists. For Southeastern, four players scored in double figures with Kristen Scholl leading all scorers with 17 points.

The Lady Cougars will now hit the road for three games. They will face the Piedmont International University on Thursday, Bob Jones University on Friday, and Toccoa Falls College on Saturday.
