Lady Cougars Beat Piedmont International for Second Win

Eight Games. Fifty-five days. That's how long it had been since the Lady Cougars had seen victory. The team had endured a difficult schedule and other adversity along the way, but perseverance paid off as they claimed a win against the Bruins of Piedmont International University.

Early on, the Bruins were able to hang around as the Lady Cougars misfired on several open attempts.

Coach Wilson said, "We got several open looks at the basket, but we just did not do a good job of converting them in the first half."

In fact, the Lady Cougars went into half time with a 22-16 lead on only 9-41 shooting.

After halftime, the adjustments turned the game into a route as the Lady Cougars pressured the Bruins up and down the floor leading to 15-36 shooting in the second half and 57-38 final.

All of the Lady Cougars scored in the game, but Bekah Misiura led the team with 14 points on 4-8 shooting from behind the arc. Emily Buffaloe of Piedmont led all scorers with 24 points.

"This was a good win for us." Commented Coach Wilson. "We have a lot to improve, but this win is important for what we are tying to develop. The goal has always been to be playing in March. This win is another step toward that goal."

With the win, the Lady Cougars move to 2-1 in the NCCAA II South Region. Their next game will be against USCAA foe Florida College on Saturday at 7:00 PM. The game will be played in Temple Terrace at Florida College.
