Cougars win at home!

The Cougars beat Trinity for the second time in a week behind balanced scoring and dominating the boards. The first half saw the Cougars led on the strength of outside shooting and offensive rebounds. Going into the half with a 33-23 score Clearwater felt confident that the second half would go the same way. When the second half score reached 45-27 the Cougars were on the verge of finishing the Tigers early, but the Tigers had other ideas. The deficit was eventually reduced to 5, but a big defense stop and a three pointer by Brian Horrach put the game out of reach, and the Cougars brought their Regional record to 3-2.

The Cougars had a balanced scoring attack led by Devin Paularinne's 19, followed by Colin DeHate with 13, and Erick McRae with 12 coming on 4-4 from the three point line. Jonah Dew and Adam VanWingerden each added 9. The Cougars were also balanced on the boards with Devin, Colin and Jonah each contributing 9 boards. The majority of scoring came off of team work with the Cougars having 20 assists on 26 made baskets. Brian Horrach was tops with 6.

The Cougars will be at home on Friday night for a non-Region match-up against the College of the Bahamas.
