Cougars earn road win.

The Cougars traveled to New Port Richey last night to tale on the Tigers of Trinity College in a South Region contest. Clearwater maintained a led for a good portion of the first half, but the Cougars were not able to pull away. Trinity briefly took the led at 23-21, but Clearwater took a two point lead into half time on a buzzer beater by Austin Swierenga.

The start of the second half saw the Tigers go on a 17-2 run. The Cougars ended the run on with 2 three pointers by Brian Horrach. Horrach was 8-11 from behind the arc. The deficit stayed in double figures until Clearwater went on a run of its own. With the score 62-50 the Cougars ran off 10 straight. The Cougars finally tied the game at 72 on a basket by Devin Paularinne and then went ahead for good on the next possession with another score from Paularinne. The 88-82 final brings the Cougars record to 2-2 in the South Region. Their next game is at home in a non-Region game with Florida College at 7 pm.

The balanced scoring was led by the sharp shooting of Brian Horrach. Brian went 8-11 from the three point line and finished the night with a game high 26 points, Erik McRae had 20, followed by Devin Paularinne with 16 and Jonah Dew added 13. Devin recorded his second double-double in a row with 11 rebounds, Jonah had 9 boards and Colin DeHate and Brian Horrach each added 7. McRae fell an assist shy of a double-double with 9 on the night.
