Cougars Drop Final Game of 2012

(12/15/12) The Cougars traveled to North Miami on Saturday with only 8 roster players to take on Johnson and Wales University for the second time. The first match-up resulted in an overtime loss for the Cougars. Clearwater played very well for the first part of half one, but the sharp shooting of Johnson and Wales started to have an impact on the game, and the JWU took a 34-52 lead into halftime on the back of nine three pointers. The initial halftime adjustments proved ineffective as JWU took their biggest lead of the game (24 points) at the 19:00 minute mark. Clearwater then began to slowly chip away at JWU lead and eventually cut the deficit to 73-76, and kept the game close until JWU went on a 12-2 run in the last 2 minutes.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Brian Horrach with 21, followed by Jonah Dew with 18. Colin DeHate was also in double figures with 12. Brian was the top rebounder with 10 giving him a double-double. Colin added 9 rebounds of his own. Erik McRae and Brian Horrach each had 6 assists.

The Cougars are off until after the new year when they host Trinity Baptist on January 12.
