Lady Cougars Lose to Northwood University

(12/8/12) On Saturday, the Lady Cougars traveled to West Palm Beach to face the Seahawks of Northwood University. The Seahawks are a perennial Sun Conference power and showed why.

Over the first five minutes, good rebounding and effective defense allowed the Lady Cougars to keep the game close at 4-6, but the Seahawks would quickly remove all doubt about the outcome of the game as they would outscore CCC 29-3 over the final 15 minutes of the half leading to a halftime score of CCC 7, Northwood 35.

In the second half, the Lady Cougars came out and showed why Coach Wilson has commented about his confidence in his team's commitment to never quitting.

Out of the break, the Lady Cougars started on an 8-0 run and went on to outscore Northwood 22-19 over the first 15 minutes of the second half. At the end of the game, the Lady Cougars had fallen 32-67.

Of the progress his team has made, Coach Wilson had this to say, "I am really proud of this group of ladies. They have faced a tremendous amount of adversity up to this point in the season. In the second half of this game, they played with the type of character and competitive spirit that it will take to be the team that they are capable of being. They never quit."

The Lady Cougars will now break for final exams and Christmas break. They will return to action on January 12, 2013 as they face the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College at home.

Coach Wilson had the following comments about the rest of the season, "I am very excited to get into the January-February portion of our schedule. We have some players who we will be able to add to our team that will help us with depth. Also, our schedule lines up much more favorably as we play our 5 remaining region games as well as other games against non-scholarship schools. Our team is better for having played these early-season games, and we will continue to improve over the remainder of the season."
