Lady Cougars Fall to Fire

(12/4/12) "The team that makes the most easy baskets usually wins the game." Coach Wilson reminds his team of this principle on a regular basis. On Tuesday night, the Lady Cougars would have liked to make a few more baskets of any kind.

In a game that saw the Lady Cougars shore up their woes on the defensive glass, the team would shoot a dismal 8-48 from the field for the game.

Against a taller Southeastern team, the Lady Cougars, who have struggled on the glass thus far, were able to hold Southeastern to only 4 offensive rebounds in the first half. Yet, the Lady Cougars were only able to muster 10 points on 2 of 24 shooting from the field and trailed 36-10.

The second half would only get slightly better as the Lady Cougars would shoot 6 for 24 from the field.

"This game baffled me." Coach Wilson said in his comments. "We really played a decent basketball game and shot pretty well from the free-throw line (14 of 19), but we missed so many easy, open shots."

At the end of the night, Tori Hale led all scorers with 17 points as the Lady Cougars fell to the Fire by a final of 68-33.

Next, the Lady Cougars will travel to Tampa to face Hillsborough Community College for the second time this season on Thursday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m.
