Lady Cougars Drop Home Opener

After the big loss on Tuesday, the Lady Cougars were asked to regroup against talented NJCAA Division I opponent Hillsborough Community College. And, regroup they did.

After only scoring 5 points in the first 14 minutes of Tuesday's game, the Lady Cougars were able to hang around in the first half with HCC leading 28-39.

The second half saw the Lady Cougars start fast. With 14 minutes to go in the game, the lead had been cut to 39-46. But over the next 8 minutes, HCC would go on a 26-5 run to take a strangle-hold on the game that they would not relinquish. At the end of the game, the Lady Cougars fell 51-87.

"What a difference a day makes." Coach Wilson said of the game. "I thought we played with a lot better composure today. We made some adjustments in practice yesterday, and the team really responded well. Hillsborough's talent and depth eventually got to us, but our players played with great competitive spirit and were able to really push them for 26 minutes."

Tiffany Pack led the Lady Cougars with 19 points on 5 of 10 shooting from behind the arc. Tori Hale added 12 points.

On Saturday, the team will travel to Ave Maria, Florida, to play the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University.
