Cougars Win Another National Championship

The Lady Cougars win in an exciting four set match against Maranatha Baptist Bible College, but the win did not come easily for the Cougars, as they found a very tough opponent in the Lady Crusaders. The two teams, ranked 1 & 2 all season long, were finally able to match up and play in the championship match of the 2012 season. This was a long anticipated meeting between these two schools as in the past two years MBBC just fell short of the title match.

The CCC team came out strong during set one and won, 25-19 with some outstanding offensive and defensive team work. However during set 2, the MBBC team came alive behind the 10 kill set of Torey DeLozier and won 25-20. During set three the Cougars found themselves behind, 4-10 before Amanda Bucklin sparked a comeback with some tough serves from the back line with the Cougars eventually winning 25-20. During the final set, the experience of the CCC squad was apparent as different players stepped up at different times to eventually take the set 25-21.

According to Coach Denny, "this group of young ladies really came together and played an excellent match. There were different players contributing at different times, and I felt like that was what made the difference between our two teams." Our theme for the season has been "one another" and I definitely could see that type of team spirit as we played today"

With the victory, the Lady Cougars are the 2012 NCCAA II National Champions. This is the seventh straight championship title for the CCC squad with a total of 12 national championships since 1995.
