Cougars Come Up Short

The second game of the season saw the Cougars travel to Lakeland to take on the Fire of Southeastern University. It was homecoming night and a large crowd witnessed a very exciting basketball game. The first half was close the entire way with Clearwater taking a one point lead at the 10:30 mark. The Fire made a run with 2:30 to go in the half to take a ten point lead, and a three point play by Brian Horrach cut the deficit to 7 at the break 31-38.

The second half started with the teams exchanging baskets. The Fire could not pull away, and the Cougars could not close the gap. Clearwater finally got the run they were looking for and tied the game at 65 with 4:05 to play. At the 2:13 mark the Fire held a slim two point lead 67-69. That was as close as the Cougars would come. Southeastern finished the game with a 10-3 run with 8 points being scored by the 6'10 center Giadys.

The Cougars were lead in scoring by Tristan Shore with 24 followed by Devin Paularrines 15 and Brain Horraches 14. Erik McRae had 5 assists, and Colin DeHate took 3 charges. Shore and Grant Touma lead in rebounding with 8 and 7 respectively.

The Cougars travel to Tennessee next week to take on Johnson University and Crown College.
