Cougars Fall in Season Opener

The Cougars got off to a slow start as they opened the 2012-13 season on the road in Lake Wales against #10 Warner University. Clearwater was down 5-17 in the first few minutes of the game, and went into half time with a 21 point deficit. The second half however saw the Cougars rally and cut the margin to 9 points on two separate occasions. The last time came with less than ten minutes to play. In the end the Royals proved to be more than the Cougars could handle on this night.

The Cougars were led by Tristan Shore’s 22 points and 9 rebounds. Grant Touma added 18 points and 7 rebounds. Erik McRae led with 5 assists and added 12 points of his own. Devin Paulrinne contributed 9 points on the night. Warner was led by Mark St. Fort’s 35 points.

The Cougars next game will be on Saturday, November 3 as they travel to Lakeland to take on Southeastern University. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
