Cougars Drop Game to Columbia International

(10/5/2012) After defeating Toccoa Falls the night before, the Cougars faced a difficult task in playing first-year program Columbia International the next afternoon in South Carolina. Clearwater struggled to find their footing early on in the match, and two costly mistakes decided the game. Goalkeeper Garrett Hollenbach was caught off his line, and the Rams scored from distance by chipping the ball just out of the reach of the Cougar keeper seven minutes into the game.

The second mistake came shortly after, as defender Ben Holmes turned the ball over in the defensive third, leading directly to the second goal for Columbia. The Cougars fought back in the second half, but the lone goal from Senior Drew Custer proved too little and too late to spark a comeback. The Rams won by a final score of 2-1.
