Clearwater Improves to 3-0 in Region Play

(10/4/2012) Clearwater put together one of their best games of the season in possibly the most important match they have played thus far. Toccoa Falls was able to get their home crowd into the game early by scoring in the 13th minute of play to go up 1-0. The Cougars were able to settled into the match and dominated possession against a very organized Eagles team. It took a brilliant 25-yard strike from Drew Custer to equalize for CCC in the 35th minute. The score would remain 1-1 as the match went to halftime.

Continuing to string passes together and be dangerous on the attack, Clearwater got a second terrific goal from outside the box as Sophomore James Sikes found the back of the net eleven minutes into the second half. Cougar goalkeeper Garrett Hollenbach had to come up big to preserve the lead, stopping a free kick with one hand on the goal line. CCC did an excellent job of seeing the game out, and held on for the 2-1 victory to improve to 3-0 in the South Region.
