Cougars Go 4-0 For Weekend

The Lady Cougars were tested by the host school but eventually came up the winner going undefeated over the weekend at the South Florida State College tournament.

Clearwater was led by three players who again scored a double/double for the second consecutive match. Richelle Bucklin had 17 kills and 14 digs despite the fact she was injured during the third set and did not return to action. Amanda Bucklin scored 15 kills and 13 digs, while Dana Medich stepped up big in the middle after Richelle's injury and finished with 13 kills and 22 digs. Setter Sarah Wild recorded 51 sets, averaging 12.75 assists per game.

According to Coach Denny, "this was our most competitive tournament to date, and the fact we were able to pull out all four wins demonstrates our potential for continued success. Losing Richelle right at the end of set three was tough, but I was so pleased with how the team responded and came back in set four to take the match. It was a great example of team unity."

The Cougars will not play again until this next weekend when they host their own invitational tournament which always brings great NAIA competition. Their first match will be on Friday at 4:00 p.m. against Florida Memorial University. Currently the Cougars record stands at 20-3.
