Cougars Capture Championship

The Clearwater Volleyball Team knows what it means to have the target on their back since they have not lost a South regional match since 2005. NCCAA opponents are hoping this will be the year that streak ends.

During day two of the NCCAA Tournament, Trinity College of Florida came out strong in set one challenging the CCC team scoring six of the first nine points of the match. The Lady Cougars came up with some great defense up front eventually winning set one, 25-18. During set two the Clearwater team continued to frustrate the offensive attack of Trinity with some great defensive plays by Medich and Ison easily winning 25-13. Trinity did not back down and came back in set three to bring the score to 19-19 before the Cougars pulled away to clinch the victory 25-22.

The Bucklin sisters combined for 25 kills in the match, while Medich and Ison chipped in 10 digs a piece for the match, and setter Sarah Wild directed the offense with 33 assists sets.

After the match Coach Denny commented "I was very pleased with our effort this morning against a very good Trinity squad. They came to play and gave us an excellent match to test our team. I was especially happy with the way Clearwater played through some difficulties which showed some great maturity for being so early in the season.
