Cougars Quench the Fire in Three Straight

The CCC Volleyball Team travelled to Lakeland, Florida on Tuesday evening and stunned the SEU home crowd in three straight sets. During the first set the two teams battled back and forth until CCC pulled out a 25-22 win. Early during the second set the score remained close until the Cougars began to pull away from the home team with a solid defensive effort by Ison, Medich and Ponce along with the offensive punch of Bucklin and Bucklin, eventually winning 25-19. The third and final set found the Cougars out front early establishing a large lead which they maintained to finish the match, 25-13.

After the contest Coach Denny commented, "It is always good to get a win on the road at SEU. Their crowd is always loud generating a fun but sometimes intimidating atmosphere to play in. Tonight we had a total team effort with our seniors and juniors stepping up big for us."

Senior Richelle Bucklin had a career high of 21 kills for the three set match with a .400 hitting efficiency, and Dana Medich led the defense with 20 digs.

The win brings the Cougars to 5-1 before heading into the NCCAA Regional Start Up Tournament this weekend in New Port Richey.
