Lady Cougars Win Again, Start Season 3-0

For the second straight day the Lady Cougars played at Toccoa Falls College, and for the second straight day, they came away with a 4-0 victory.

Unlike yesterday's game, where the Lady Cougars were held scoreless in the first half, Clearwater was able to find the back of the net twice in the first half. Forward, Victoria Hale opened the scoring in the game's 20th minute off an assist from fellow forward, Leah Zwiers. Seven minutes later, Leah scored her first goal of the season and put the Lady Cougars up 2-0 going into halftime.

The second half would be more of the same for Clearwater. Sophomore, Rebecca Farrell put the Lady Cougars up 3-0 in the 57th minute with her first goal on the season. Kelsey Redemann wrapped up the scoring when she followed up her shot that hit the post and played the ball past the Kentucky Christian goalkeeper.

The Clearwater defense played well and earned their second shutout of the weekend. Senior, Lydia Twigg, played all 90 minutes in the back, and Sophomore Kim Vilchez made 4 saves in goal for the Lady Cougars to earn the clean sheet.

Coach Bates was pleased with the effort of the team today and said, "It was a hard fought physical game, the team played hard and kept their focus for all 90 minutes."

The Lady Cougars are back in action on Monday, September 3 when they take on Johnson University in Atlanta, GA at 1 p.m.
