CCC Drops Nightcap

Senior Ethan Barba homered in the game, but it wasn't enough as the Cougars dropped the nightcap against Toccoa Falls College 11-3.

As the Cougars trailed 7-0 heading into the top of the fifth inning, Barba hit a three run home run which cut the deficit to 7-3. Freshman Henry Turner and sophomore Chaz Russo scored on the home run, after Turner walked to lead off the inning, and Russo hit a double down the right field line.

Clearwater couldn't get anything else going in the last two innings, as nine of the last eleven Cougar hitters made outs.

CCC starter Will Kirby, who has been known to throw deep into the game, lasted 3 2/3 innings, his shortest outing of the year. He gave up four earned on seven hits and three walks, while striking out two.

Sophomore Kyle Baitz and junior Josh Williams combined for the last 2 1/3 innings on the hill.

The bats never came around, combining for ten hits for both games, compared to Toccoa's twenty-two hits.

Toccoa starter Dylan Charles picked up the win, going five innings, striking out three.

The Cougars are scheduled to finish their Georgia road trip against Point University, formerly Atlanta Christian, on Tuesday afternoon in College Park, Georiga, with the first pitch at 3 p.m.
