Eagles Clip Cougars


Toccoa Falls College defeated Clearwater 6-1 in the front end of the doubleheader on Monday afternoon. Eagles starter Justin Keys picked right up where he left off the last time he faced Clearwater, throwing another complete game.

Toccoa got on the board first putting across four in the fourth inning on two errors, five hits, and a free pass.

They added two more in the bottom of the sixth extending their lead to 6-0.

Cougars sophomore Jefte Velez singled in freshman catcher Nate Krouse, as both hit singles in the inning.

Cougars starting pitcher Kyle Leja took the loss, throwing 5 2/3 innings, giving up four earned, and striking out two. Sophomore Luke Brigham, threw 1/3 of an inning in relief, striking out one.

Krouse went 2-3 on the day with a pair of singles, which were two of the five Cougar hits in game one.

Toccoa's victory in game one gives them a 3-1 series lead, clinching the season series.
