TFC Wins Nightcap

Toccoa Falls pounded out sixteen hits and scored fifteen runs en route to a 15-4 victory to take the series for the weekend.

Senior Brent Kirkley started the game on the hill for Clearwater, in hopes of his third consecutive win, but was removed in the top of the first with shoulder tendonitis.

The Eagles took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first.

The Cougars didn't shut down, as they cut the lead in half after freshman Nate Krouse delivered with a single that scored junior Chris Caudillo and sophomore Chaz Russo.

In the fourth inning, the Cougars trailed 6-2, but scored two runs again, making it 6-4. Sophomore Eddie Fuentes knocked in a run on a ground out, and then sophomore Jefte Velez knocked in another on an RBI single.

Toccoa went on to score nine runs in the last three innings, extending the lead to 15-4, and sealed the victory.

Eagles starting pitcher Dylan Charles threw four innings, gave up four earned, but picked up the win due to solid run support from Toccoa's lineup.

Krouse led the Cougars going 2-3 with 2 RBI's, and Chaz Russo scored a pair of runs.

Clearwater is now 2-3 in conference play, and will look to improve on that record over the next month as they finish out the conference schedule.

Clearwater takes the field again next Tuesday night at Eckerd College with the first pitch at 7 p.m.
