Leja Dominates Eagles, Cougars Win

Junior Kyle Leja took a no hitter into the last inning, until Eagles third baseman Cody Hyden hit a single up the middle, which also broke the shut out. Leja threw a complete game, giving up one hit, one run, and had five strike-outs.

The Cougars defense played well turning four double plays, and had just one error.

For Alice Lloyd, starting pitcher Neil Dillon was dueling it out with Leja, as the game was scoreless going into the bottom of the sixth. The Cougars broke out for three runs in their half of the inning.

Sophomore David Edwards hit a one out single, and advanced to third on a single by junior Chris Caudillo. Caudillo was tagged out at second trying to turn it into a double. Edwards scored on a passed ball during senior Zack Weber's at bat, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Weber then walked, and was knocked in as freshman Nate Krouse hit an RBI triple. Sophomore Chaz Russo came through with an RBI single, scoring Krouse, extending the lead to 3-0.

The Eagles managed to put one run across in the seventh, but wasn't enough, as Leja closed it out, winning 3-1.

Edwards led the Cougars offensively going 2-3 with a run scored.

Sophomore's Eddie Fuentes and Joel Felten also added a base hit each.
