Clearwater Loses to #1 Seed Valley Forge in a Heartbreaker, 49-48

The CCC Cougars gave #1 seed Valley Forge all they could handle but fell short in their upset bid by a 49-48 score in the quarterfinals of the NCCAA National Tournament. Down by 2 at the half, the Cougars played great defense and rebounded with intensity to keep the game close right down to the wire. A Bryan Spears tip at the buzzer almost went in that would have given CCC the victory.

The Cougars held Valley Forge to a season's low 49 points while out rebounding them by 17. The lid was on the basket for both teams as CCC shot 33% from the floor and VF only shot 30% in their FG attempts. Matt Wells and Tristan Shore both had 14 point to lead CCC. Todd Wahlberg had a game high 15 rebounds, while Shore added 11 for the Cougars.
