Cedarville Wins Nightcap

The Cougars fell behind early, creating a hole too big to climb out of Thursday night in the nightcap of the doubleheader at the Joe DiMaggio Complex.

Clearwater struggled to find the strike zone giving away sixteen free passes in the 13-1 loss. The Yellow Jackets gathered nine hits as well throughout the second game.

Down 8-0 in the fourth inning, the Cougars scraped together their only run of the evening. A leadoff walk issued to senior Zack Weber, followed by an error by the Yellow Jackets third baseman, allowed freshman Nate Krouse to advance to second and Weber to third. Weber scored on a quality at bat by second baseman Chris Caudillo who hit a groundball to the right side knocking him in.

Starting pitcher Henry Turner took the loss for Clearwater.

On the flip side, Yellow Jackets starting pitcher Michael Roe threw a complete game, striking out six, and giving up one earned run.

The Cougars are looking forward to opening up conference play tomorrow afternoon with a double header starting at 1 p.m against Florida Christian College at Frank Tack Park.
