Cougars Stop the Hawks for 2-1 Win

(10 /22/11) Clearwater Christian College defeated Chowan University (NCAA II) on Saturday afternoon in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Cougars were led by freshman Jonathan Moore who scored the game winning goal and also added an assist and senior Drew Custer who also added a goal and an assist.

The Cougars scored the first goal 20 minutes into the match when Custer volleyed the ball in from close range after Moore kept the ball alive in the box with a header following a free kick by Ben Holmes.

Moore would score the eventual game-winner when he scored from close range off a Custer corner to put the Cougars up 2-0 with less than 5 minutes remaining in the match. Chowan would pull within 1 goal with just under a minute to go in the match, but the Cougars would go on to prevail.

Clearwater had a 10-3 lead in shots on goal and 8-6 in corners. With the win, the Cougars improve to 6-9-1 overall.

The Cougars finish their trip to W. Palm Beach with a match against host Palm Beach Atlantic University on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Magic Jack Park in W. Palm Beach.
