Clearwater Wins Second Match of the Day


Clearwater takes the second match of the day at the Lake Sumter Tournament beating the home team 3-1. The Cougars dropped the first set after the Lakers came out strong with solid defense limiting the offensive power of the Cougars. During set two the Cougars regained the offensive advantage while improving on their defensive end, taking the next three sets.

Coach Denny commented, "I am really pleased with how well we responded as a team after losing the opening set. Everyone stepped up, and we showed poise and confidence to come back." The Cougars were led offensively by Emma Kile with 19 kills, Amanda Bucklin with 14 kills, and Richelle Bucklin had 8 kills. Setter Sarah Wild led the comeback with 44 assists. Amanda Ison led in digs with 16 followed by Kile and Ponce both with 13 digs for the match.
