Cougars Capture Win Against St. Petersburg College

On Friday evening in front of the home crowd the Lady Cougars captured a solid victory over St. Petersburg College winning in four sets. The CCC team came out strong in set one taking a 9-3 lead before the Titons began to get into the game. The two teams exchanged points back and forth, but Clearwater was able to hang on to the lead to take set one. During the second set, the St. Pete team cranked up their explosive offense and took the set. The Lady Cougars adjusted their defensive system and came back to win set three. Going into the fourth set both teams relied on their big hitters for offensive power and had several rally exchanges. Clearwater got a run and found themselves up 17-23 before the Titons ran off eight straight unanswered points to be at set point. Richelle Bucklin drilled the ball to the back line to tie the score 24-24. The next two points were scored by Clearwater to take the set and the match.

Emma Kile scored another double/double with 21 kills and 15 digs while Amanda Bucklin added 13 kills. Defensively the team was led by Dana Medich with 16 digs and Amanda Ison with 12 digs. Setter, Sarah Wild had a solid performance with 43 assists, 8 kills and 10 digs.

The Cougars now 26-6 will get the next few days off before they host Pasco Hernando Community College on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
