Cougars Come Back to Win in Five Sets

The CCC Volleyball Team struggled back hard after falling behind two sets against State College of Florida in the opening match of the SFCC Tournament. The Cougars came from behind to win the next three games and the match. The Cougars were outplayed during sets one and two against a very talented and tall Manatee team. After the second set loss, Coach Denny switched her line up and the bench players came out big to turn the tide and make some huge contributions. Sophomore Dana Medich and freshman Laura Coulter helped in the comeback with key offensive attacks for the Cougars.

According to Coach Denny, "I was pleased that our team demonstrated a lot of character and heart not to just give up after the set two loss. Making the adjustments from our bench worked great, and I was so impressed with both Dana and Laura's contributions. That is exactly what we needed our bench to do for us." Emma Kile led the Cougars with 20 kills , and Richelle Bucklin added 15 kills. Libero Kim Ponce had another great defensive effort with 27 digs. The Cougars are now 18-2 as they play their second match of the day against host, South Florida Community College.
