Cougars Get Big Win at Webber

The CCC volleyball team takes tough opponent Webber International University this evening in three straight sets. The Warriors were holding on to first place in the NAIA Sunshine State conference with a 8-1 record going into tonight's non-conference match. Clearwater came out strong with solid defense holding the Webber big hitters to single digit kills for the match. Kim Ponce had 20 digs for the match while Amanda Ison added 11 digs. On the offensive side for Clearwater, Emma Kile led the team with 16 kills for the three sets. Coach Denny was thrilled with her team's effort tonight. "We had a slow start in our last match, and I knew we would need to come in tonight and start strong against Webber, and that is exactly what we did. I felt like we won the serve-serve receive game and we played some intense defense. It was definitely one of our best matches of the season so far."

The Cougars are now 17-2 as they head into the South Florida Community College Tournament this weekend.
