Cougars Bounce Back With Solid Win Against Southeastern

The Lady Cougars bounced back after a tough loss on Tuesday night to defeat NAIA Southeastern University in three straight sets. The Clearwater team came out with an intensity and drive that was lacking eariler in the week, playing solid offense and defense against the home team. According to Coach Denny, "we really needed this win. It is always nice to beat SEU, but after our last loss, we needed to get back on the court and play up to our potential. I felt like we did that tonight and the end result was a three set sweep over the Fire."

Emma Kile led both teams with 19 kills and a 45% hitting efficiency while Kim Ponce added 17 digs from the back row. Solid passing from Ponce, Ison, and Kile allowed the Cougars to run an impressive offensive attack led by setter Sarah Wild who had 35 assists, averaging over 11 per game. Just as impressive was the Cougars defensive effort with a total of 41 digs for the match.

The Cougars, now 15-2 get a much needed break this weekend before heading into a very busy week on the road.
