Women's Soccer Tie Opening Game

The 2011 Lady Cougars soccer season opened in the rain on Tuesday evening, with a game against the Florida College Falcons. Freshman Rebecca Farrell opened the scoring in the 24th minute with an assist from midfielder Katherine Helder. The Lady Cougars then gave up 3 consecutive goals. Late in the first half, Madeline Tewes found the end of a through ball from Whitney Redemann and played it past the Falcon's goalie to cut the lead in half. The second half saw the Lady Cougars hold Florida College scoreless, while Madeline Tewes scored her second goal of the game to tie the score at 3.

Coach Bates was excited about the strong defensive effort the girls put forth in the second half. The team is looking forward to their first home game of the season on September 2 vs. Ave Maria University.
