Cougars Shut Out By St. Leo

(4/9/2011) The second game of the series against St. Leo progressed much like the first for the Cougars as they struggled to get any offense going to back the pitching. Once again, the boys managed only five hits against a solid performance by the St. Leo pitching staff. The home team seemed to see the ball well, driving in 11 runs on 10 hits with a big home run in the 6th inning. Defense and pitching looked good for Clearwater, but the offense could not back up the good defense, with ten batters striking out. Matt Vasquez and Ethan Barba lead the Cougars with 2 hits each but were left stranded with no hits behind them. St Leo pitching finished off the game, closing the door in an 11-0 shut out.
