The Cougars Defeat Atlanta Christian 75-67

Playing their third game in three days, the CCC Cougars saved their best for last as they defeated Atlanta Christian in an important win on Saturday afternoon in the Atlanta Gym. The host Chargers gave the Cougars all they wanted during the first half and took a 38-35 lead into the locker room at the intermission.

Clearwater picked up the defensive pressure in the second half and behind the defensive effort by Matt Wells, rebounding by Todd Wahlberg, and sharpshooting by Brian Horrach, the Cougars were able to turn the tables on ACC. Taking a 5 point lead with 4 minutes to go, the Cougars controlled the ball as Atlanta mounted a final defensive flurry. Wells and Horrach made huge 3 point FG's at the end of possessions, and Horrach hit 4 consecutive free throws to secure the win for CCC.

The Cougars held Atlanta to 29 second half points in winning their third straight game on the road trip. The three victories gave CCC a 5-0 NCCAA South Region record and put them in first place in the region standings.
