Men's Basketball Coaches
Coach Craig Wilsman
Craig Wilsman from Lakeland, Florida has joined our staff as the head coach of our menís basketball team. Wilsman is no stranger to the coaching ranks having over 20 years of experience in Christian higher education. Craig brings a breadth of championship experience with him to Clearwater and has also coached collegiate players who have received All-Star, All-Conference, All-Region, All-American and All-Canadian Awards.
Prior to coming to CCC, Wilsman was the Athletic Director and the Head Menís Basketball Coach at The Kingís University in Edmonton, Alberta, and helped guide his team to their best record in eight years. In addition, Wilsman coached for five years at Prairie Bible College in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, where he was the schoolís second coach in their short ACAC school history. He also served as the Athletic Director and the SPORT Director (sports management program that he helped facilitate its start). Most recently at Warner University in Lakeland, Florida, Coach Wilsman guided the Lady Royals to a second and fourth place finish in the highly competitive NAIA Sun Conference.
Coach Wilsmanís relationship with the NCCAA began during his first coaching stint at Simpson University in Redding, California, where he served four years. During his last season at Simpson his team qualified for the NCCAA D II National Tournament in Oklahoma City and finished second in the nation losing to Atlanta Christian (now Point University) in the national championship game.
Athletic Director Vickie Denny says this about Coach Wilsman: ďCraig brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our basketball program and I am thrilled that we can have someone of this caliber to lead our menís team. He has a heart for mentoring young men through the sport of basketball and will bring a new dimension to our menís program. He has been very successful at the NCCAA national level and we look forward to how God will use him as our new menís basketball coach.Ē
Wilsman earned a Master of Science, Recreation and Parks Administration from Western Illinois University and, in addition to his coaching responsibilities, he will also be developing the sport management program within the Exercise and Sport Science Department. Craig is married to Susan, who is also an accomplished athlete and softball coach, and they have four children.
Coach Dean Williams
Assistant Basketball Coach
Coach Williams has been coaching for over 25 years, and
this is his 11th year at CCC. He was the assistant men's coach from 2002-2005, 2010-2012, and 2014-2015 and the head women's coach from 2005-2010.
Before coming to
Clearwater, Coach Williams coached in three public high schools in Minnesota as an assistant coach. He coached at Yellow Medicine East from 1990-1995, Montevideo
High School from
1995-2001, and Dawson-Boyd High School in 1997-1998, and 2001-2002. In 2001 Coach Williams founded Martial Ball (The Martial Arts of Basketball) in Dawson, MN. Williams started his
coaching career in 1987 at Oak Forest Christian Academy in Oak Forest, Illinois coaching Jr. High boys and JV boys. In 2012-13 Williams coached the girls basketball
team at Land O' Lakes Christian School.
Coach Williams loves working with young people to reach their full potential as Christian servants and basketball players. He currently teaches full-time at Classical
Preparatory School as a middle school Science teacher.
